BERLIN — Sixteen teams from Gorham, Berlin, Milan, and Errol public schools, as well as Unity Christian. a local private school, assembled at White Mountains Community College on March 15, for the second annual North Country Lego League Challenge. Students ranged from grades three to six and seven to nine. The schools partnered with White Mountains Community College and BAE Systems in coordinating this first, unofficial, all volunteer event under the leadership of John Holt of WMCC and Jen Corrigan of Gorham Middle High School.

Teams selected a challenge from a menu of options and prepared their robots in advance of the event. After one run, teams were able to make quick adjustments and then put their creations to the test for a second trial. Volunteers Michael Prange, Bruce Hill, Aaron Goldman and Shelley Koehler served as the judges. The Unity Christian team Blue Maurice finished in first place, Errol's Wall-E team in second, and Gorham's Team AK in third.
