TAMWORTH — For the first program of its 2018-2019 season, Arts Council of Tamworth will be welcoming Grammy-nominated West African storyteller and musician Cheick (pronounced “shake”) Hamala Diabete on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Barnstormers Theatre stage located at 104 Main St. in Tamworth.

Diabate is king of the ngoni–a plucked West African lute and precursor to the banjo–and a griot, a West African storyteller/poet.
