SARGENT'S PURCHASE — Members of multiple search and rescue teams came together last week to extract an injured hiker from treacherous terrain near the summit of Mount Washington, ultimately airlifting him to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

James Shuffleton, 64, of Hampstead was hiking with a friend on the Huntington Ravine Trail at about 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, when he slipped and fell, injuring his leg.
