Sixth Straight Win for Berlin/Gorham Girls over Crimson Tide 6-0

CONCORD-- Freshman Rylie Binette scored two goals and added two assists, leading the Berlin/Gorham girls’ hockey team to a solid 6-0 victory over the Concord Crimson Tide in Concord Saturday. With their sixth straight win, the Lady Mountaineers are currently in the second ranked position at (8-2). Concord slipped to (1-8) on the winter.

The visiting Mounties got on the board first at 9:49 of the first period. Defender Jensyn Dandeneau found the back of the Concord goal to make it a 1-0 game. The goal was Dandeneau’s fourth this year and was set up by the play making of Binette.

Less than a minute later, sophomore forward, Jenna Arguin lit the lamp for the seventh time this season to give BG a 2-0 lead. Line mates Binette and Emma Schoenbeck got the helping markers.

The final goal of the first period came at the 12:41 mark of the period. Dandeneau went the distance on the ice surface to score her second of the game and fifth of the year for a three goal Berlin advantage.

The next goal scored was going to be a big one, so Berlin’s top point getter went to work to put the visitors on top 4-0. Binette’s sixth goal of the winter came off of a scramble in front of the Crimson Tide goal. Binette’s line mates, Arguin and Schoenbeck picked up the assists.

Concord took an ill-timed penalty and was sent to the sin bin for hooking. BG made Concord pay by scoring a beautiful power play goal for a 5-0 lead. Binette scored her seventh after getting a perfect feed from defender Meagan Accardi and Arguin.

The last goal of the game was an unassisted effort from the team captain. Senior, Emily Landry, pounced on a loose puck and rifled her shot home for a 6-0 final score. The goal was Landry’s fourth of the year.

For the game, Concord’s Amanda Line Tibbals had 20 saves. At the other end of the ice, Berlin sophomore Chelsey Caron had eleven saves and recorded her fifth shutout of the season, lowering her goals against average below one.

The Berlin girls will get a couple of tough tests this week traveling on the road to play (7-2) Bishop Guertin and then host (5-5) St Thomas on Saturday.
