Lancaster man was charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide

LANCASTER – A 47-year old Lancaster man was charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide in the death of another Lancaster man on New Year's Eve.

In a statement released yesterday, Coos County Attorney John McCormick said Steven Dupont of Lancaster allegedly struck 57-year John Kenney in the face, causing Kenney to fall to the ground or floor and hit his head. The incident occurred at 4 Elm Street on Tuesday evening.

Dupont was being held yesterday on $100,000 bail set by First Circuit Court Judge John P. Cyr.

The investigation by state and Lancaster police is on-going. No further details were released.
